Konjo Ababa, which translates to “beautiful flower” in Amaharic, is an ethically produced designer accessories label. The Konjo Ababa label consists of women’s and men’s handbags, scarves, shawls and jewelry. Our Collections are wearable art!
Our Konjo (beautiful) label is handcrafted in Ethiopia. Our Collections provide jobs for over 100 women and men in Ethiopia. Our craftspeople are paid a living wage, they work in a healthy and safe environment, and they are able to feed, clothe and educate their children!
Ethiopia is a country of approximately 80 million people: 50 million live in abject poverty.
It is Konjo Ababa’s goal to help reduce this poverty, and we reduce poverty by productive means. Konjo Ababa is a secular company: our agenda consists simply of providing jobs. Konjo Ababa teaches sustainable skill sets, and we donate time and resources for secular education. We are not in Ethiopia to tell people what to think or what to believe: we are there to provide jobs. We empower people humbly, yet with pride.
The accessories we produce are beautiful wearable art. Our handbags are crafted with the finest sheep nappa, bati kid goat, and bovine hide. Our Konjo scarves and shawls are handspun from the finest gabi cotton, which is very soft and cozy. Our beautiful jewelry is handcrafted from the best nickel and gold.
